The D-Octer Panel

D-Octer Module

for VCV Rack, Ⓒ Sm@rTAZZ Studio, developed by Marinko Laban

(Last updated March 11th, 2024)

Introduction

The D-Octer is a module that transposes an incoming V/Oct voltage to 1 and 2 octaves lower and higher. Each transposed signal is sent to a separate output.

The incoming V/Oct can be polyphonic. Each channel is transposed in the same way and sent as a polyphonic signal to the corresponding output jacks.

Manual

The paragraphs below describe each of the knobs, input/output jacks and menu items of the Clipper module

Panel Functions

V-In: A V/Oct input signal. This should typically be a bipolar (-5V..5V) signal. However, the module does not check on this.

Oct-2: This is the V-In signal, transposed down by 2 octaves. Note that the module does not check if the result is below the audible range or not, as you may want to transpose a low frequency signal, regardless the voltage.

Oct-1: This is the V-In signal, transposed down by 1 octave. Note that the module does not check if the result is below the audible range or not, as you may want to transpose a low frequency signal, regardless the voltage.

Oct+1: This is the V-In signal, transposed up by 1 octave. Note that the module does not check if the result is above the audible range or not, as you may want to transpose a high frequency signal, regardless the voltage.

Oct+2: This is the V-In signal, transposed up by 2 octaves. Note that the module does not check if the result is above the audible range or not, as you may want to transpose a high frequency signal, regardless the voltage.

Menu Items

The module has no specific menu items, besides the VCV defaults.

You will find a tutorial below in due time (work in progress)

Source Code & Plugin

Feel free to download the source code of this module. It is part of the STS-Free bundle and the full bundle is available here on GitHub. The STS-Free bundle (slug value "SmarTAZZStudio-Free") is also available as a downloadable plugin from the VCV Rack Library, so you can download and install the module directly from VCV here.
